Meet Dr. Matlock

Elizabeth Matlock, MD (she/her) is a double board-certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist who takes a psychodynamic and integrative approach. Dr. Matlock trained at Yale New Haven Hospital psychiatry residency and child and adolescent fellowship at UNC. She completed medical school at Medical College of Georgia where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and received awards for compassion and excellence in medicine. Dr. Matlock specializes in psychodynamic psychotherapy, integrative medicine, LGBTQIA+, adolescents, women and perinatal psychiatry.

Dr. Matlock is certified in integrative and functional medicine, with special interest in herbalism. She is a 500-hour yoga instructor who has taught yoga and meditation for over a decade (including during college and medical school). Prior to medical school she worked in adolescent wilderness therapy, was a camp counselor and youth mentor; she’s supported youth since 2009. She holds undergraduate degrees from Swarthmore College in Religion and Biology, where she conducted microbiology research. She also works as an adjunct faculty emergency CL psychiatrist for UNC Hospitals.

2. Intake Forms
You’ll receive intake forms by email. To get the most out of your consultation, please return forms a week prior to your appointment along with any labs, psychological testing or medical records to be reviewed.

Adult & Perinatal
Comprehensive Consultation

During the 90-minute appointment, we’ll discuss your life, symptoms, medical history, psychiatric history and goals. At the end of the consultation session, Dr. Matlock will share an initial diagnostic assessment and treatment recommendations. $480

Child & Adolescent Comprehensive Consultation

Includes time with both with the child/teen and parents to learn about the child, get to know your family, discuss medical history, strengths and concerns. Dr. Matlock is warm, kind and makes every effort to help children feel at ease. At the end of the consultation, Dr. Matlock will share initial treatment recommendations. $580

Follow-up Appointments for Established Patients

Treatment is highly personalized and follow-up interval is tailored to your needs.

Follow up appointments are 50 or 25 minutes in length. Longer 50-minute appointments allow time for psychotherapy and/or discussion of issues with more complexity. Briefer 25-minute follow-up sessions are typically medication or single issue focused.

If you see Dr. Matlock for therapy, we aim to arrange the same 50-minute appointment time each week.

Some patients have a therapist and see Dr. Matlock for integrative psychiatry and medication primarily. Dr. Matlock will collaborate with your current therapist.
